Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has dismissed reports that talks are underway to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has been the subject of speculation in recent days following reports that the French giants had opened talks over a pre-contract agreement.
The 32-year-old will become a free agent in the summer - should both parties fail to agree an extension - bringing an end to nine successful and record-breaking years on Merseyside. From January, Salah can enter talks with overseas clubs over securing a deal with prospective clubs.
Reports suggested that Salah had entered talks with the Ligue 1 champions, however France media outlet L'Equipe quickly rebuffed the claim - insisting that the club had distanced themselves from the speculation.
Salah dropped a hint that Sunday's win over Manchester City could be his last at Anfield amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his contract. Meanwhile head coach Arne Slot failed to be drawn on any further speculation and whether the Egyptian's recent comments point to a possible extension.
Al-Khelaifi poured cold water on the recent rumours, he told Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg: "It’s not true. He’s a fantastic and amazing player, but we’ve never considered him, to be honest.
"We know every club would love to have him, but this rumour about us is simply not true."
Salah's future continues to be thrust under the spotlight amid his impressive form so far this season. His penalty against City moved him to within one goal of current golden boot leader Erling Haaland but his rare interview with reporters sparked a frenzy as he expressed disappointment over the club's failure to table an offer so far.
