Leicester City Loan Report: International Figure Sees Red

Leicester City have many players out on loan, including academy graduate Wanya Marçal-Madivadua who has made his debut for De Graafschap in Dutch’s second tier. The Foxes also have many other players on loan. This Leicester City loan report will assess the five players who had the most notable performances this week.

Leicester City Loan Report: Harry Souttar Sees Red

Harry Souttar – Sheffield United

The Australian international has had an excellent season so far for Championship side Sheffield United. The Blades sit top of the league, two points clear of second place Burnley. Souttar played just 45 minutes at the weekend vs Sunderland at Bramall Lane, where United secured their eighth home clean sheet in a row while winning the game 1-0.

The 26-year-old started at centre-back before he was sent off for a second yellow card for pulling back the Sunderland forward Isidor on the halfway line. Prior to his dismal, Souttar put in a solid display as he completed 89% of his passes, made one block and four clearances as well as three passes into the final third.

Tom Cannon – Stoke City

The 21-year-old attacker led the line for Stoke in a 0-2 home defeat vs Burnley. Cannon played all 90 minutes with a respectable performance that saw him, take five shots, create four chances and take seven touches in the opposition area. The Irish international had a decent performance, especially considering his side played host to the strongest defence in the league that has conceded just six goals so far.

The forward has had an impressive start to the season with seven goals which puts him joint-fourth in the race to the Golden Boot. Goals clearly haven’t been an issue for the striker as he looks to prove to parent club Leicester, why he should be starting in the Premier League.

Silko Thomas – Wigan Athletic

English winger Silko Thomas has had a decent start to the season in a struggling Wigan Athletic side in League One. Thomas started for the Tics at the weekend, as they won 2-1 against Cambridge United to help them advance in the F.A Cup. The attacker’s start to the season has seen him impress enough to regularly start, despite often lacking the finishing touch to find a first goal.

Against Cambridge, he didn’t manage to contribute with a goal involvement, whilst his side only narrowly advanced through a late goal to equalise before finding a winner in extra time. He probably would have hoped to have had more of an impact on the game as suggested by him making way just before the hour mark.

Wanya Marçal – De Graafschap

22-year-old Wanya Marçal is yet to have played a minute this season due to an undisclosed injury that has left him sidelined for months. His return saw a promising performance in his new surroundings. He came off the bench in the 63rd minute and managed to make an impression.

The Winger had one shot, created a chance and managed five touches in the opposition box, which was good going after not playing since August. Leicester saw Wanya as a good option in the Championship last season as he regularly featured on the bench and they will be sure to keep an eye out for his future performances in the league.

Brad Young – Hartlepool United

Goalkeeper Brad Young retained his position in between the sticks for boyhood club Hartlepool United as they drew 0-0 at home to second-placed Barnet. The shot stopper managed to keep a clean sheet for the fourth time in a row at home as he proves his talents against some of the toughest opposition in the league.

His great performance was epitomised by a stunning save from a header late on, which kept the two sides level. The Foxes will be sure to keep monitoring the goalkeeper’s performances as he is slowly proving his quality at this level before returning to the King Power next season.
