Chelsea transfer news: Paris Saint-Germain readying 'bold' Christopher Nkunku swap deal

Chelsea may reportedly receive a swap proposal from Paris Saint-Germain for Christopher Nkunku.

The France international has cut a frustrated figure for Premier League fixtures this season, not starting in the competition since the opening weekend.

That is despite 10 goals being scored in the EFL Cup and Conference League, Nkunku essentially reduced to playing backup to Nicolas Jackson in important fixtures.

Head coach Enzo Maresca has consistently praised the 27-year-old, insisting that more opportunities will materialise over the hectic winter period.

Nevertheless, reports continue to emerge that Nkunku is open-minded to an exit from Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.

PSG to up Nkunku interest?

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have each been linked with a move for the playmaker, yet it appears that former club PSG are also interested in adding Nkunku back to their senior ranks.

According to Fichajes, PSG are prepared to offer one of their out-of-favour frontmen to Chelsea in part-exchange.

The French giants are seemingly happy for Randal Kolo Muani to make the switch to West London if it bolsters their chances of signing Nkunku.

Despite remaining as a key man for France, the 25-year-old has been reduced to two starts and 11 substitute outings for PSG in all competitions.

Not since September 21 has Kolo Muani played longer than 45 minutes in a fixture for Luis Enrique's side, highlighting his position in the pecking order.

Would Maresca consider swap deal?

While no specifics regarding finances are mentioned, PSG are not in a strong position at the negotiating table given Kolo Muani's lack of game time.

Chelsea, on the other hand, do not want to lose Nkunku at the midway point of the season, and any proposal would have to be viewed as financially beneficial for it to be considered.

Although Nkunku's wishes will also be taken into account, possessing a contract until 2029 means that Chelsea officials will not feel forced into contemplating a part-exchange unless Maresca feels that he can get the best out of Kolo Muani.
