Mikel Arteta has established himself as one of the best managers in the world in recent years at Arsenal.
Indeed, the Spaniard has done a brilliant job with the Gunners in recent years, helping the north London club to back-to-back second-place finishes in the Premier League.
However, it hasn’t always been easy for Arteta.
Indeed, there were calls for Arteta to be sacked early in his tenure at Arsenal, but he has seriously turned things around.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, Jorginho has been discussing his manager, and he says that Arteta is way better as a coach than he actually expected him to be.
Jorginho has previously praised Arteta, and he maintains that he is a top coach who works incredibly hard.

Jorginho surprised by Mikel Arteta’s ability
Jorginho spoke highly of Arteta, claiming that he’s actually a better manager than he expected him to be.
The midfielder claimed that Arteta goes into a crazy amount of detail ahead of every game.
“We’ve spoken about a couple of your different managers up to now. Your current manager is Mikel Arteta. How different is he and what does he give for you to be the best you can be?” Rio Ferdinand asked.
“I think he’s unbelievable,” Jorginho said.
“Is he better than you expected?” Ferdinand asked.
“I think so. I knew he was really good, but maybe I didn’t expect for him to work in so many details the way he does, which is good because you go to the game day, you know everything, what to expect. I was surprised how much we work on every single situation on the pitch,” Jorginho said.
Which other managers has Jorginho worked under?
Arteta certainly isn’t the most decorated manager in the world, but if he’s made this much of an impression on a player like Jorginho, he’s certainly doing something right.
Indeed, when you look at the list of managers Jorginho has worked under, you can see that he has been exposed to some world-class coaching.
High-profile managers Jorginho has worked with
Rafa Benitez
Maurizio Sarri
Thomas Tuchel
Graham Potter
Frank Lampard
Roberto Mancini
Antonio Conte
Luciano Spalletti
Jorginho has played under managers that have won countless league titles, Champions Leagues and even European Championships, but he’s been left very impressed by Arteta and his methods.
In fact, Darren Bent once said Arsenal should sack Arteta in order to hire Antonio Conte, but, luckily, the Gunners didn’t follow that advice.
Arteta recently signed a new contract, which, via GiveMeSport, is said to be worth £288k-a-week, and while that is a lot of money, the Spaniard has shown over the past few seasons that he’s worth every penny of that salary as he’s transformed Arsenal from pretenders to contenders in the Premier League.
