Ian Wright calls out three Arsenal players who need to'step up'ahead of Man Utd clash

Arsenal legend Ian Wright insists Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Raheem Sterling all need to step up and show their quality, ahead of the Premier League clash with Manchester United on Wednesday night.

The Gunners have rediscovered their form since returning to domestic football after the final international break of the year. Nottingham Forest, Sporting Lisbon and West Ham United have all been comfortably dispatched with Mikel Arteta's side scoring five goals in both of their last matches.

However, a tough test is just around the corner for the North London club as United visit the Emirates Stadium to kick off what is undoubtedly a hectic festive period. With such a jam-packed run of fixtures to come and a gap of nine points standing between the Gunners and leaders Liverpool, Wright has called upon the Arsenal trio to offer more for the club.

"For Martinelli, Jesus and Sterling, I think this is a really big moment at this stage of the season for them to step up if called upon to deliver something," he told Optus Sport. "They have to.

"What needs to happen, at different stages of the season if they’re called upon, they have to do it. They have to do it because for us to catch Liverpool and probably try and get away from Chelsea, the way they’re going, we’re going to need something else.

"The main thing for us, after the first XI, it’s the people that come in to contribute. That’s what it’s gonna have to be."

In December, Arsenal will play seven games in 24 days. By the end of the month, it is likely that we will know if the Gunners are still in the hunt for the title or not.
