Arsenal icon Ian Wright believes Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Raheem Sterling have to step up against Manchester United. The Gunners host Ruben Amorim's team at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, December 4, in the Premier League.
Speaking on The Kelly & Wright Show, Wright insisted that his former team have to take three points against the Red Devils.
"With Manchester United and as good as it is for them at the minute, beating Ipswich and Everton, Amorim will know this is a different kettle of fish with Arsenal. It’s a game Arsenal have to win. I think it’s a free hit for Manchester United with their improvement," said Wright.
Martinelli, Jesus, and Sterling haven't been at their best this season but Wright believes that Mikel Arteta needs the trio to fight for the league.
"For Martinelli, Jesus and Sterling, I think this is a really big moment at this stage of the season for them to step up if called upon to deliver something. They have to. What needs to happen, at different stages of the season if they’re called upon, they have to do it," said Wright.
He continued:
"They have to do it because for us to catch Liverpool and probably try and get away from Chelsea, the way they’re going, we’re going to need something else. The main thing for us, after the first XI, it’s the people that come in to contribute. That’s what it’s gonna have to be."
Raheem Sterling arrived at the Emirates this summer on a season-long loan from Chelsea. He has so far scored a goal and provided two assists in 10 appearances across competitions.

Manchester United's last win over Arsenal came in the Premier League in September 2022, under former manager Erik ten Hag. Since then, the north London side have won the last three games against their old foes.
The two teams have faced each other 240 times in their history, with the Red Devils securing 101 wins to the Gunners' 89. Should Arsenal come out victorious on Wednesday, it will be the first time that they have won four on the trot against Manchester United in the league.
The north London side are currently second in the Premier League table after 13 games, nine points behind leaders Liverpool. They have won seven and lost just twice in the league so far.
Ruben Amorim's team, meanwhile are ninth, six points behind the Gunners. They have won five and lost four in the league this term.
