Darren Bent believes that Everton have several players that would thrive under a more attacking manager if they were to sack Sean Dyche.

The Toffees’ hammering at the hands of Manchester United piled even more pressure on Dyche, who is facing increasing scrutiny at Everton.

Just two wins from 15 games has Everton sitting miserably down in 15th but Bent thinks their fortunes can change if the club opt to replace Dyche with a more attacking manager.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (2 December, 10:15 am), he said: “Watching Sean Dyche’s football, I’m like no. I think they’ve got players in their squad that with a more forward-thinking manager would get the best out of them.”

Everton are massively underachieving under Sean Dyche

Everton certainly don’t have the best squad in the Premier League, granted. However, they have a squad that is capable of far more than having won two in 15 and much of that is down to the dismal style of play adopted by Dyche.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees have plenty of quality in the attacking third with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye, Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin but none have been able to reach the heights they are clearly capable.

Calvert-Lewin in particular has been criticised for his lack of contribution but the service is poor and Dyche simply isn’t the man to address that.

Dyche specialises in making teams typically hard to beat and tough to play against and has largely failed at that this season with six defeats.

Everton need a manager capable of getting their attacking players back to their best and, if they can achieve that, results will start to come as the foundations are still in place.

January will provide a good opportunity to add quality but the key factor as to how the remainder of the season can pan out largely stands with the decision made on the managerial position.
