Nigerian forward, David Okereke has garnered praise from former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho following his impressive performance in Gaziantep's recent Super Lig match against Fenerbahce.
Despite his team's 3-1 defeat at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, Okereke's equalizing goal just before halftime earned him the recognition and praise of Mourinho.
The match saw Fenerbahce take an early lead with a goal from Aydın in the third minute.
However, Okereke struck back for Gaziantep in the 41st minute, marking his third goal of the season in the Super Lig after eight appearances.
His timely response not only brought his team level but became his third strike against a team managed by Jose Mourinho.
However, goals from Rodrigo Becao and Edin Dzeko ensured Fenerbahce secured the victory in front of their home fans.
In quotes relayed by [Trtspor](https://x.com/trtspor/status/1863704699007848712), Mourinho expressed his admiration for Okereke, noting that the striker has achieved a unique milestone.
"I congratulate David Okereke. He is the first player to score against all three teams that I managed. He scored against my teams while playing for Venezia, Cremonese and Gaziantep," he highlighted.
Okereke has not yet made his full debut for Nigeria, but he did represent the Olympic team in 2019.
With his rising profile in Turkey, the 27-year-old will hope to capture the attention of Austin Eguavoen and receive an invitation to join the national team when Nigeria resumes its campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification in March 2026.
