Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández has no intention of departing Stamford Bridge, despite recent reports linking him to Atlético Madrid, according to AS.
Fernandez began the season as a key player under the CHELSEA boss, captaining the side as he started six of their opening seven games, but he then struggled to get into the regular starting spots for the Premier League and has been linked with moves away from the club
Since returning from a hamstring injury, Romeo Lavia has been part of that, partnering Moises Caicedo in midfield and there has been alot of transfer speculation in the media that he is one player the club may look to sell in the upcoming windows.
Chelsea have put a price tag of 100 million pounds (120 million euros) on the table to negotiate the transfer of Enzo Fernandez, According to AS, the English club has communicated its demand to the Spanish giants, which is looking to strengthen its midfield with a player capable of assuming the role of organiser in the exit of the ball
However – Speculation about a potential move to Spain has been dismissed, with sources confirming that Atletico Madrid has not approached Fernández’s representatives, and the Argentine star is reportedly focused on his current club and determined to help Chelsea compete for major trophies this season.
Pundit Graeme Souness recently took aim at Chelsea and Fernandez, claiming that the midfielder will never live upto the hype – he told William Hill’s podcast,Three Up Front: “It’s still very early to pass any sort of judgement on CHELSEA.
‘With their current group of players, they have a chance of finishing in the top four, but they’re still some way off winning the Premier League or Champions League.
‘From the current squad, I think there’ll be an enormous wastage of players and a lot of them will never live up to the levels that people think they will. The most obvious one for me is someone who isn’t even in the team at the moment, Enzo Fernandez, on whom they spent £105 million.
‘They’ve bought a load of players who won’t reach the level they would’ve hoped.”
