Chelsea have shown interest to sign Willian Pacho
The 23 year old has joined Paris Saint-Germain only in this summer
The Blues are prepared to spend big and lure the Ecuador international away from French side
Willian Pacho is 23 years old and plays as a centre back. He joined PSG this summer from German club Frankfurt. Pacho is from Ecuador and is a regulat starter for both club and country.
This season, Pacho has played 16 games for PSG so far. He has started 15 of those which is enough to showcase his importance for the French side. The 23 year old has also recorded his first assist for PSG.
PSG paid Frankfurt €40 million when signing Pacho this summer. They have tied him with contract running until 2029. As of now, PSG will view Pacho as their long-term superstar and they have no plans to part ways with the talented defender.
Chelsea keen to sign Willian Pacho from PSG
As per Fichajes, the Blues are still keen to sign Pacho despite the stance taken by PSG. The Premier League giants are prepared to spend big in order to convince PSG to part ways with Ecuador international.
PSG are not in need of finances and are rather keen to build a future ready squad. Hence, it is very unlikely that they will agree to part ways with Pacho who is regarded as a key player by Luis Enrique.
At the same time, Chelsea will not give up without a fight. They are known for spending big and taking bold decisions in the transfer market. Pacho is not the only one in their targetted list but certainly fits their system of hiring young players.
One thing which is for sure is that the player is very unlikely to switch sides mid-season. A january move is very unlikely as it will not go well for both player and the club. The Blues may have to wait until summer to get final answer or may look for someone else to fill the current defensive void.
Live Updates
There is some concerning news for Chelsea fans regarding defense. Wesley Fofana who has been starting regularly alongside Levi Colwill this season has faced hamstring injury recently. He is expected to miss some very important matches as he is not set to return on the pitch until early January 2025.
