Manchester City fans are hoping to see a busy January after such a poor run of results recently.
It’s now seven games without a win, which is completely uncharted territory for Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City came up well short against Liverpool on Sunday. Most expected the Reds to win at Anfield, but there was genuinely a real gulf in class between the two sides.
There is a feeling now for many that the team is in need of a rebuild.
And some hope that will commence as early as January, and Martin Zubimendi is a player who’s been linked with a move.
Rodri is said to have advised City to consider signing Zubimendi, who’s a player he knows well from the Spain national team.

It remains to be seen if the club will make a move, and there has been a mixed update today on the star.
Zubimendi ‘coming to terms with the idea of leaving Real Sociedad’, but there’s an issue for Man City

Zubimendi has been one of the best midfielders in La Liga for a while now.
The star has been with the club since the age of 12, and first broke through to the first-team in 2019.
Having performed brilliantly for both club and country recently, there is a feeling that Zubimendi’s time at the club could be coming to an end.
And seemingly, he also feels this.

The Athletic have reported today that ‘multiple well-placed sources believe Zubimendi is coming to terms with the idea of leaving Real Sociedad’, which is a line that will no doubt have many top clubs on red alert, including City.
But it’s also reported that a move for him is not anticipated until next summer
This is interesting, because it does sound like Zubimendi feels his time at the club is coming to an end.
But City may well want to do a deal for January, given how much they’ve struggled without Rodri. Hopefully, he’d be receptive to an approach next month.
City should trigger Zubimendi release clause and make lucrative contract offer
Guardiola will be backed by the City hierarchy in January. It’s been claimed Guardiola could make up to three new signings in January, and many would love one of those to be Zubimendi.
He’s a brilliant player, and someone who’s ready to step up and join a club challenging for silverware. Indeed, Jamie Carragher said he’d loved to see Liverpool sign Zubimendi, and the Reds have been heavily linked recently.
Zubimendi is a specialist holding midfielder who could come in and give something Guardiola craves, and has not had since Rodri got injured; control.
He’s got a fairly affordable release clause of around £51 million, and we know City have cash to burn after the summer sale of Julian Alvarez.
The club should be looking to perhaps tempt Zubimendi with a big contract, so that he’ll consider joining next month as opposed to the summer.
