The left-back is set to miss the trip to Arsenal
Luke Shaw has issued a statement to Manchester United fans after reports emerged suggesting he will not travel to London for the Red Devils’ Premier League match against Arsenal tomorrow evening.
Shaw, 29, has hardly featured since Euro 2024, having sustained a calf injury just days before the Premier League’s opening day.
He has played just three times this campaign but did manage 34 minutes in United’s 4-0 trouncing of Everton on Sunday.
But now, according to talkSPORT, the United left-back has not travelled to London with the rest of his teammates due to an “unspecified problem”.
On Tuesday evening he confirmed the news with an emotional statement posted to his Instagram story.
“It’s hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forwards, but unfortunately I’ve had a small setback,” read Shaw’s statement.
“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period. I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.
“I understand there is gunna be people frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no one feeling that more than me at this moment in time.
“But what I can promise is I will do everything I can to come back better soon to help this club achieve its ambitions this season. Thank you to everyone for the support. It really doesn’t go unnoticed and I really do appreciate it."

His absence also creates a selection dilemma for Ruben Amorim.
He is expected to be without Shaw, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof due to injury but Leny Yoro has travelled with the squad although unlikely to start after his long-term layoff.
While Lisandro Martinez is suspended, having started United's last game as the left centre-back of a three alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
In Shaw's absence, Diogo Dalot has been employed as a left wing-back, despite usually being a right-back.
Both Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire could be Amorim's options on the left side of the defence.
