Arsenal will likely need to beat Manchester United on Wednesday if they are to remain in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners currently sit second in the table but already fins themselves nine points behind runaway leaders Liverpool and will therefore need to avoid dropping any more points if they are to keep alive their slim chances of lifting a first title in two decades.
Manager Mikel Arteta could look to the transfer market when the window reopens in January in an effort to bolster his squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.
The Gunners signed five players during the recent summer window, including the permanent signing of goalkeeper David Raya and the loan arrival of Raheem Sterling from London rivals Chelsea.
Arsenal had been on the hunt for a new striker but a move never materialised, and it has now emerged that the North London side are no longer in the race to sign one of their former targets.
As per GiveMeSport, the Gunners are no longer likely to pursue a move for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.
The report claims that the Seagulls are considering allowing the Irishman to leave the club on loan in January but, regardless, Arsenal are not likely to enter the race to sign the player.
Ferguson could leave Brighton on loan in January
Ferguson, 20, joined Brighton from Irish side Bohemians in 2021 and enjoyed a fine breakthrough season during the 2022/23 campaign, netting nine times in 23 games across the Premier League and FA Cup.
He added another six league goals to his record last term, but his form has dipped significantly this season and he has netted just once so far.
With that in mind, the Seagulls are considering allowing the Republic of Ireland international to depart on loan in January, but the report suggests that Arsenal will not be interested.
It is claimed that the player himself is keen to depart The Amex after falling out of favour in recent months.
