Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called on Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, and Raheem Sterling to rise to the occasion as the Gunners prepare for a pivotal phase in their season.
Following a challenging spell of form that coincided with the absence of captain Martin Ødegaard, Arsenal have regained momentum with three consecutive wins in all competitions. This resurgence sees Mikel Arteta’s side sitting second in the Premier League after 13 matches.
However, the Gunners face an uphill battle in the title race, with Liverpool racing ahead under Arne Slot. The Reds’ blistering start to the season has seen them open a nine-point gap at the top of the table, firmly establishing themselves as favourites for the title.
Arsenal will aim to narrow the gap tomorrow night when they host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. United, rejuvenated under new manager Ruben Amorim, head into the clash on the back of a 4-0 demolition of Everton—a result that marked an encouraging start to Amorim’s tenure.

Previewing the highly anticipated encounter on Optus Sport’s The Kelly & Wrighty Show, Wright emphasised the significance of the fixture for Arsenal.
“With Manchester United and the form they’re showing under Amorim, this will be a different challenge,” Wright said. “It’s a game Arsenal have to win. For United, it’s a bit of a free hit, given their recent improvement.

“It’ll be fascinating to see how United cope without the ball against Arsenal. If they can hold their shape and remain a threat, they’ll be a problem.”
Ian Wright underlined the importance of Arsenal attacking trio—Martinelli, Jesus, and Sterling—in maintaining the club’s title ambitions.

“This is a big moment for Martinelli, Jesus, and Sterling,” Wright stated. “At different stages of the season, players are called upon to deliver, and now it’s their turn.

“If Arsenal are to catch Liverpool and fend off challenges from the likes of Chelsea, it’ll require contributions beyond the first XI. The players stepping in must make an impact.”
Wright also heaped praise on Bukayo Saka for his consistent performances during Ødegaard’s absence, highlighting the winger’s vital role in the team.
“Saka’s brilliance has been a constant, even when Ødegaard was out,” he said. “He carried the team during that period and has only elevated his game since the captain’s return. Ødegaard is like Rodri for City—a central cog in the machine. Losing him disrupts too much.”
