Enough is enough: [Julen Lopetegui’s](https://www.claretandhugh.info/julen-lopetegui/) short stint as **West Ham** United head coach must end immediately.
The Hammers’ 3-1 loss at the King Power Stadium to Leicester City is surely the final nail in the coffin for a coach who was never suited to the West Ham job.
There can be few excuses after a game in which Lopetegui tried numerous tactics and had almost a full complement of personnel to face one of the Premier League’s worst teams.
Unfortunately, the stark reality is that the former Spain and Real Madrid head coach has turned West Ham United into one of the Premier League’s worst-performing teams, and it simply cannot continue any longer.
The West Ham board must act decisively before the situation deteriorates further. The Hammers, under Lopetegui, are dysfunctional in defence, unable to compete in midfield, and blunt in attack, despite an embarrassment of riches at their disposal.
The situation with Lopetegui is irreparable. Even with significant reinforcements in the forthcoming transfer window, improvement seems highly unlikely.
Recriminations and finger-pointing over the appointment of such a substandard coach can wait. Right now, the priority must be to act swiftly before the rest of the [Premier League](https://www.claretandhugh.info/premier-league-bio/) moves so far ahead that West Ham is left behind.
