Ruben Amorim, Manager of Manchester United, speaks to the media during the UEFA Europa League 2024/25 League Phase MD5 press conference at Carrington Training Ground
All smiles so far after Ruben Amorim's strong start as Man United boss
Ruben Amorim faces his first major test as he continues to settle in at Manchester United with the former Sporting boss preparing his side to face an Arsenal side who have been gluttonous in front of goal. His counterpart, Mikel Arteta will be keen to keep his Gunners on the winning momentum after impressing at the London Stadium last weekend.
Arsenal continued their resurgence with an emphatic 5-2 triumph over West Ham on Saturday, which brought in a my result and BTTS tip ahead of the weekend's match. This win marked their third consecutive victory across all competitions, bolstering their momentum as they prepare to host United.
The win at the weekend puts Arteta's side second behind league leaders Liverpool who are nine points ahead having capitalised on Arsenal's recent slump of form before picking up back-to-back wins in the league. There is a tough mountain to climb to bring forward a legitimate title challenge this side of Christmas and they still have Chelsea, Brighton, Man City, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham all breathing down their necks.
Meanwhile, Manchester United's new manager, Ruben Amorim, secured his inaugural Premier League win with a dominant 4-0 performance against Everton on Sunday. This victory has propelled United into the league's top half, but they face a formidable challenge as they head to the capital midweek.
Amorim was pleased with the improvement from what he saw in Thursday night's Europa League action against Bodo/Glimt, in a match which saw another two tips come in. Despite taking the lead in the first minute thanks to Alejandro Garnacho, United were before in the first-half before Rasmus Hojlund cancelled out that lead at half-time and completed his brace early on in the second-half.
The Red Devils will be hoping the new man at the helm will finally put Marcus Rashford on the right path in form after he secured three goals in two league matches since Amorim's arrival including a brace at the weekend against Everton. The Toffees faced a very efficient United attacking force - something we have not seen in a while - as they netted 80% of their shots on target against Jordan Pickford.
