West Ham must swoop to replace Julen Lopetegui with Graham Potter after the 3-1 defeat against Leicester City on Tuesday.

The Hammers suffered yet another setback this campaign, going three goals down at the King Power before Niclas Fullkrug’s header late on on 3 December.

The defeat has already resulted in questions being asked of the Irons’ manager, with respected journalist Henry Winter putting forward the ex-Chelsea boss as a potential replacement on X (3 December).

He said: “Lopetegui was never the most inspiring appointment in the first place and they have a huge game against Wolves on Monday.

“West Ham board usually patient with managers but their fans deserve better than this. Potter?”

West Ham should replace Julen Lopetegui with Graham Potter

The Englishman was in attendance in the East Midlands to watch the Hammers’ defeat as a pundit with Amazon Prime Sport and would represent a prime candidate.

The 49-year-old was famed for his dynamic style of play during his time with Brighton, which he wasn’t given time to implement at Stamford Bridge.

This could prove to be closer to what fans at the London Stadium want to see on a consistent basis after a difficult season so far.

This would have to see Lopetegui relieved of his duties but that wouldn’t come as a surprise given how poor the Hammers have been in the opening 14 games of the Premier League season.

It has to be said that his side arguably could have scored multiple times against the Foxes but just weren’t good enough in front of goal.

Regardless of this, a 3-1 defeat is a 3-1 defeat and coming off the back of conceding five against Arsenal, a change in manager could be a wise move from David Sullivan and Co.
