There has been no other recent emergence in world football like that of Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old's extraordinary vision and passing ability, not to mention his appetite for goals, caught the attention of his fellow professionals who selected him as one of the finalists for the 2024 FIFPRO Men's World 11.
The vote of footballers from all over the world has determined that Yamal is among the 26 shortlisted players for this year's team of the year, which rewards individual performances between 21 August 2023 and 14 July 2024 inclusive.
Three strikers will be selected for the World 11, with the possibility of a fourth if the most voted player outside the 10 – a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards – also plays as a striker. Joining Yamal among the shortlisted forwards is Vinicius Jr, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Cristiano Ronaldo..
