The race for the prestigious Pichichi Trophy, awarded to La Liga’s top scorer, is intensifying. With Robert Lewandowski given a rest by Hansi Flick in Barcelona’s match against Mallorca, Raphinha seized the opportunity to make his mark.
The Brazilian winger scored a brilliant brace, narrowing the gap between him and Lewandowski in the scoring charts.
Raphinha’s goals brought his total to 11 in the league, placing him second in the standings behind Lewandowski, who leads with 15 goals.
This performance has certainly put pressure on the Polish striker, who was not on the field during the game. Behind Raphinha, Osasuna’s Ante Budimir occupies third place with nine goals.

He scored a hat-trick against Valladolid, two goals each against Villarreal and Mallorca, and has now scored in three consecutive La Liga matches against Celta Vigo, Las Palmas, and Mallorca.
His consistency in front of goal has been one of the standout features of his season so far. What is also notable about Raphinha’s goal tally is that, out of his 11 goals in La Liga, only one has come from the penalty spot.
In comparison, Lewandowski has scored two penalties, while Budimir has found the net four times from the spot. This highlights Raphinha’s ability to score from open play, showcasing his skill and natural talent.
Credit where it is due
Since joining Barcelona, Raphinha has always made it clear that he was determined to succeed at the club. This season, he has truly stepped up, delivering excellent performances.
Due to injuries to other key players, he has worn the captain’s armband on several occasions and taken on the responsibility with great joy, demonstrating his leadership qualities.
As the season progresses, Raphinha’s goal-scoring form will continue to play a crucial role in Barcelona’s pursuit of domestic glory, and his efforts have placed him firmly in the conversation for the Pichichi Trophy.
