The one potential issue that's emerged for Wolves as Julen Lopetegui loses again with West Ham…

Wolves are currently sitting in 18th place in the Premier League table and Gary O’Neil is under pressure, but he’s not the only one.

Wolves crashed to a 4-2 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, meaning this game with Everton tonight is now huge.

Gary O’Neil really needs a win, to ensure he gets the game against West Ham United on Monday.

That fixture is potentially going to be very interesting, because right now, Julen Lopetegui is very much on the brink.

The Spaniard oversaw a 3-1 defeat against Leicester City last night, leading to chants against him from travelling Hammers fans at the King Power Stadium.

The feeling is that Lopetegui could actually now lose his job, and that could have consequences for Wolves.

Lopetegui was under major pressure prior to last night’s game. It’s already been reported West Ham could move for Sergio Conceicao to replace Lopetegui.

But now, he is in real danger of losing his job at the London Stadium.

Some West Ham supporters were against his appointment from the very start, after the club moved on from David Moyes.

Wolves fans did warn that Lopetegui’s style of football may not have been to West Ham fans’ liking.

But they got him in, and he’s taken just 15 points from 14 games, winning four, drawing three and losing seven.

West Ham’s next Premier League game happens to be against Wolves, and it may well be that Lopetegui doesn’t actually get to face his former club.

We’ve all heard of the new manager bounce theory, and that is something Wolves may have to contend with next Monday. That said, if things go badly against Everton tonight, it’s not out of the question O’Neil could also get sacked, presenting West Ham with the same potential issue.

Lopetegui sack may not help Wolves

We’ll see what the coming days bring, but Lopetegui’s position at West Ham now is extremely vulnerable. It’d be no surprise if they axed him after last night’s defeat to Leicester.

West Ham actually didn’t play too badly against Leicester and were slightly unlucky. But it’s a results business, and expectations were high after Moyes left.

He was already up against it with many West Ham fans, and even some Wolves supporters didn’t quite understand his appointment at the London Stadium. But he just hasn’t delivered.

It’s certainly a situation for Wolves to keep an eye on. Quite possibly, the best outcome would be for Lopetegui to remain in charge.

A new manager bounce is a very real thing, and Wolves could probably do without it for next Monday’s game.
