Liverpool are top of the Premier League at the moment, but, somehow, their incredible form hasn’t been the biggest talking point on Merseyside as of late.
Indeed, Mohamed Salah’s contract situation has somewhat overshadowed Liverpool’s recent incredible form.
Liverpool are yet to offer Salah a new deal, and that’s because the Egyptian has been holding out for a three-year contract offer.
However, according to Simon Hughes, speaking on the Walk On Podcast, Salah’s stance has now changed.
The journalist says that Salah is now open to the idea of signing a one-year extension at Anfield, and that’s a deal that could work for all parties.

Mohamed Salah open to one-year contract extension
Hughes shared what he knows about Salah’s contract situation and his new stance.
The journalist says Salah is now open to a new deal at Liverpool, and he’s no longer set on getting a three-year extension.
“Mohamed Salah is open to the idea of a one-year contract at Liverpool, a one-year contract extension.”
“Of course, there’s been a lot of debate over the last couple of weeks about what his expectations are. I mean, the information that I’ve had which are put in the piece is that he’s very frustrated at the pace of the negotiations and where they are at at the moment.
“It’s certainly not a case of him saying, right, I want three years, all that security. But what he does expect is to be paid in keeping with the best players in the world, which I don’t think anybody can deny that he is at the moment.
“And from my perspective, I mean, it seems like quite a, would be a sensible thing for everybody to agree on, really. It’s a PR masterstroke.
“It’s backed Fenway Sports Group into a corner. And if now he leaves, signs a pre-contract with a foreign club on the 1st of January, everyone will turn and point fingers. He’s compromised.
“He’s not saying, I want to play till I’m 39 or anything. He’s saying, just give me another year. I want to stay at Anfield.”
Mohamed Salah stats this season
This is an absolute no-brainer for Liverpool.
Indeed, signing Salah up to a one-year extension is a move that makes the world of sense.
Salah is operating on a world-class level at the moment, and his stats show it.
Mohamed Salah stats this seaosn
Games 13
Goals 11
Assists 7
League games only
Salah is a potential Ballon d’Or winner off the back of his performances this term, and this isn’t the type of player you ever want to let go, especially not on a free transfer.
Salah’s contract talks are apparently going well, and there could end up being some good news on this front in the coming weeks.
At one point, it looked like Salah may be in his final year at Liverpool, but, now, it would appear that there’s at least one more chapter to write in this incredible Anfield story.
