Mohamed Salah is flying at the minute and has spearheaded Liverpool to the top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings with his performances.
Arne Slot’s arrival has seemingly unlocked another gear in him as the Egyptian continues to wreak havoc against opposition defenders.
Salah recently said he was disappointed with Liverpool for not putting a new contract offer on the table, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
But that hasn’t had any effect on his performances as he continues to lead the line under the new manager.
And Rafael van der Vaart has made an interesting claim on where the Egyptian king ranks when compared with Real Madrid duo Vinicius Jnr and Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid and Liverpool recently locked horns in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield and the Reds had the last laugh as they secured a 2-0 win.
Salah didn’t score against the reigning European champions but he was fantastic on the right flank for Liverpool as he ran the opposition defenders ragged.
Both Salah and Mbappe missed a penalty apiece on the night, but the gulf in class between their performances couldn’t have been more stark as the Egyptian dominated the game, while the Frenchman was kept at bay by Conor Bradley.

Van der Vaart feels Salah is the best player in world football currently as he explained why he’d take him over Mbappe.
He said on talkSPORT: “I think so (is Salah the best player in the world right now?). I like Mbappe but he’s not showing it at the moment.
When asked by Expressions about Vinicius Jnr – who missed the game at Anfield due to injury, Van der Vaart made an interesting point.
He continued: “I think Salah is consistent. He’s done it for many years and also he really feels at home in Liverpool. He should stay.”
Salah’s stats when compared to Real Madrid duo
A closer look at the underlying numbers of the three players clearly shows that Salah has simply been on another planet this season.
Stats 2024-25 Apps Goals Assists Mins played
Mohamed Salah 20 13 11 1613
Kylian Mbappe 19 10 2 1592
Vinicius Jnr 18 12 5 1522
Vinicius Jnr finished second behind Rodri in the 2024 Ballon d’Or, but Salah wasn’t even named in the top 30 and has also been snubbed for the 26-man FIFPro World XI shortlist.
Salah is one the best players of his generation, but the fact that he is still underrated among the general football audience is a little surprising, to say the least.
