Harry Winks must battle with three Leicester City teammates to retain crown as vote opens

After a disappointing relegation in 2023, this year saw Leicester City make an instant return to the Premier League with the Championship title.

Then-boss Enzo Maresca led the Foxes to glory in the second tier but was unable to resist the offer to join Chelsea in the summer. Two men have held the reins since then - Steve Cooper and now Ruud van Nistelrooy - but that turbulence hasn't stopped City's star players from impressing throughout the year.

Fans will undoubtedly be hoping the new year brings more stability, but before that happens, we need to know who you think should be crowned Leicester City Fans’ Footballer of the Year for 2024. Harry Winks won the crown 12 months ago, but has he done enough to retain it?

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Dewsbury-Hall was one of the biggest reasons why Leicester won the Championship. The heartbreak of being relegated from the Premier League was personal to him and he showed up when it was really needed. His 12 goals and 15 assists were vital to Enzo Maresca and Leicester, something they are missing this season. He earned his move to Chelsea and will always be a fan favourite.

Jamie Vardy

The Leicester skipper scored 20 goals last season and showed exactly why he’s playing at the top at 37 by becoming first-choice striker under Maresca. Despite having Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka and Tom Cannon as competition, Vardy still stood out. Back in the Premier League, he has continued his incredible record in front of goal with four in 10. In what could be his final season in blue, Vardy has continued to be loved by the Foxes and hated by opposition supporters.

Mads Hermansen

One of, if not the, best pieces of business Leicester have conducted in the transfer market in recent years. Costing just £6.5m, Hermansen played a crucial role in Leicester’s promotion-winning season and has adapted to life in the Premier League incredibly well. If it weren’t for him, City would have certainly conceded another 10 goals, at least. Only one goalkeeper has made more saves than him this season and Leicester will be lucky to keep hold of him.

Harry Winks

Like Hermansen, Winks signed for Leicester on the back of relegation and managed to get his career back on track. A player too good for the Championship, Winks showed glimpses of the player Tottenham had. He’s impressed in the top-flight this season, even being tipped to be called-up to the England squad by Gary Neville!
