After West Ham’s disastrous performance at Leicester and 3-1 humbling against one of the worst defences future in the Premier league, many had assumed that [Lopetegui](https://www.claretandhugh.info/lopetegui-on-the-brink-west-ham-boss-losing-dressing-room-and-fans-patience/) had reached the end of the line and the infamous ‘corner flag’ picture along with the press release confirming parting company would have appeared on the club web site by now.
However, we hear that no such decision has yet been made and we believe -according to _exWHUemployee_– that a board meeting is due to take place today at which the future of Julen Lopetegui will ‘be discussed’ – but it is possible that these discussions, apparently, could go on over the next few days.
Whether that is simply management speak for wanting to try and get the succession sorted and the ink dry on a new contract first – who knows. West Ham do have history of getting everything aligned before firing a Manager in the past, if memory serves me right. So quite possibly there is ‘a lot going on’ behind the scenes!
We can’t think of anyone outside the boardroom who’d need to ‘discuss’ Lopetegui’s future after a pretty disastrous run of games this season that have included losses of 5-1, 3-1, 4-1, 3-0 and 5-2. After £140 million spend the club has gone backwards and currently sit 14th in the Premier league just 6 points above the relegation zone.
