The Gunners head into the game on the back of a 5-2 win against West Ham United over the weekend where all seven goals came in the first half. However, during the game, Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori were both taken out of the match after picking up knocks. Furthermore, both Mikel Merino and Thomas Partey missed the game after they had suffered injuries and all four players are currently being assessed ahead of the Gunners’ game against United on Wednesday night.

In his pre-match press conference Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta issued an update on the four as he hopes they can return for the game at the Emirates. He said: “We’re going to have a meeting this afternoon,” he said.

“We have done a training session (this morning), we have monitored and kept a few away from certain activities and after that meeting, we will decide if everyone is fit and available and who will start.” All four are back in training, but the Gunners’ boss was still unsure on if they will be fresh and ready for Wednesday night.
