Everton have ‘expressed interest’ in manager – Surprise move to Toffees now seen as ‘serious possibility’

Everton have ‘expressed interest’ in manager Sérgio Conceição and a move to Goodison Park is a ‘serious possibility’ at this moment in time.

That’s according to O Jogo, who say the Friedkin Group have a ‘strong appreciation’ of the Portuguese coach as they look at alternatives to Sean Dyche.

The newspaper reports that Conceição is currently one of the most attractive names on the coaching market as he’s available on a free and has ‘prestige’ after managing Porto.

Former club Nantes are interested in taking him back after his previous spell at the club, which impressed Waldemar Kita and put Conceição firmly in his sights.

They’ve already been in touch to convey a ‘desire’ to hire him if they decide to part ways with Antoine Kombouaré, which is a distinct possibility. That’s only been an initial probe for information and nothing beyond that.

There is a ‘serious possibility’ Conceição may not be available, though, as Everton have also ‘expressed interest’ in the 50-year-old. West Ham are in the same position.

Pressure has been mounting on Sean Dyche after a miserable start to the season and the Friedkin Group are expecting to make ‘large changes’ when their takeover of Everton is finally completed.

A change in manager could be on the cards and Conceição is a ‘highly rated name’ among the group.

Moving to the Premier League may be something of a surprise switch, given Conceição’s fiery temper is thought to have put clubs off in the past.
