Graham Potter has put West Ham on red alert, confirming that he's 'open to everything' in his search for a new job. The 49-year-old has been out of work since April 2023, when he was sacked by Chelsea after just six months in charge.
Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali raised eyebrows when parted ways with Thomas Tuchel just weeks into their first full season as the club's new owners. Potter replaced the German in the dugout at Stamford Bridge, and he enjoyed a brilliant honeymoon period.
The Englishman went nine games unbeaten before suffering a 4-1 defeat to Brighton. While Potter returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, the Blues began to struggle.
The former Seagulls boss was eventually sacked following a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, leaving Chelsea in the bottom half of the Premier League table and 12 points adrift of the top four. Potter hasn't returned to management, despite being heavily linked with numerous roles.
Instead, he's regularly featured as a pundit on television. Speaking on Amazon Prime following West Ham's defeat to Leicester City, Potter was quizzed on his future and whether he's looking for a new job.
"Yeah, of course," said the former Chelsea boss. "As I’ve said before you’re open to everything but at the same time I’m really enjoying this (punditry) because it is another perspective. You get to see it from your eyes and how the media thinks about the game.
"That’s always interesting. It makes you realise how much you know. It’s a different lens so that can only make you better once you understand that as well. I’ve enjoyed that, these two guys (Emile Heskey and Kevin Nolan) have been brilliant company this evening so it’s been good."
Potter was also asked about links to the Leicester job before Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed. Keeping his cards close to his chest, he replied: "What I've realised is that, in this world, you don't believe everything you read in the newspaper. I spoke to a lot of people and a lot of clubs over the summer and over the time I've been out.
"Out of respect for them, I think I will keep those conversations private. You don't confirm or deny anything, but this is a fantastic football club and they will be looking to start the new era under Ruud van Nistelrooy with a win."
