Chelsea give big hint that£52m player will start his second Premier League game of the season vs Southampton

Everyone is waiting to see how many changes Enzo Maresca is willing to make when Chelsea make the quick turnaround back to Premier League action tonight against Southampton.

The Blues have frequently made plenty of changes when midweek action has come around, however this has normally been due to the drop in quality that comes with their opponents in the Conference League.

Defenders such as Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi have found the majority of their starts come in Europe, while the attackers have helped themselves to plenty of goals too.

The club’s top scorer in all competitions is Christopher Nkunku, a player who has just one Premier League start under his belt so far this season.

Big hint Christopher Nkunku will start for Chelsea vs Southampton

That came on the opening day against Manchester City, where he was playing in a wide attacking role that doesn’t suit his strengths.

The Frenchman has struggled to make himself a regular in the starting side due to the fantastic performances of Nicolas Jackson. Nkunku has reportedly been left frustrated with his minutes as a result.

However, the Chelsea social media sites seem to have given a big hint that he will be named in the starting side tonight.

The pre-match graphic shows Nkunku as the featured player, normally a sign that he will be in the XI from the off tonight.

Chelsea fans want Nicolas Jackson rested

Chelsea fans were calling for Jackson to be rested, with him currently sitting on four yellow cards and one away from a suspension with big rivals Tottenham up next.

Maresca admitted that Nkunku has not looked as good recently as he did during pre-season, where he scored the majority of the Blues’ goals.

However, there is still a quality player there who Chelsea would do well to not let slip through their fingers by not giving enough opportunities too, starting with tonight at St. Mary’s.
