[Leicester City 3-1 West Ham Utd](news_archive.php)
---------------------------------------------------
West Ham can consider themselves unlikely yet very much relegation contenders after this latest Premier League defeat - against a team that had recorded just two wins prior to this evening.
The home side, under new management in the shape of Ruud Van Nistelrooy scored three and had a potential fourth disallowed as West Ham's leaky defence recorded a total of eight goals conceded in the last two matches. And this latest defeat has left Head Coach Julen Lopetegui on the precipice, as travelling fans chanted "you're getting sacked in the morning" as the game drew towards its inevitable conclusion. Leicester were ahead as early as the second minute when Jamie Vardy - the victim of some good, old fashioned ribbing from the visiting support - beat West Ham's ineffective offside trap before slipping the ball beyond Lukasz Fabianski. I took nearly an hour for the Foxes to double their advantage, a goal which came against the run of play from Bilal El Khannouss on the hour mark. And the icing on the cake for home fans arrived in the final minute of normal time through substitute Patson Daka. Despite creating 31 shots at goal during the game, a record for this season, West Ham's only reply was a late consolation for substitute Niclas Fullkrug, who headed home from close range in added-on time to give the result a veneer of respectability. However West Ham's travelling fans were in no mood to celebrate and booed both the players and Head Coach Lopetegui - who must be living on borrowed time after this latest calamitous defeat. We'll have a full match report for you soon...
