Aston Villa and a host of Premier League teams are ‘on red alert’ to the availability of Nicolo Fagioli.

That’s according to TBR Football who say Juventus have made the Italy international available for a January transfer after he lost his place under new manager Thiago Motta.

Villa are included in a list that also features Manchester City, Tottenham, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest with the report adding that most of the Premier League is aware of his situation.

Fagioli has only made four Serie A starts this season – and two in the Champions League in which he came off the bench in the final four minutes of last week’s 0-0 draw with Villa.

The 23-year-old joined the Juventus youth set-up in 2015 and came through the ranks to play 62 times for the Old Lady, operating in the middle of the park and capable of performing holding or attacking midfielder roles.

He has made seven appearances for Italy, after being given his first by Roberto Mancini in 2022, his most recent against Israel in October.

Villa have been linked with several central midfielders, not least suggestions that Fagioli’s Juventus team-mate Douglas Luiz might even return to the Second City. Fagioli’s contract was renewed only 13 months ago and run until the summer of 2028 but TBR say his club is open to either a permanent or loan move next month.

However they are currently well-stocked in those positions with Boubacar Kamara fit again, Amadou Onana having arrived from Everton to join the likes of Youri Tielemans, John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey, fitness permitting.
