'We are': Alexis Mac Allister shares the 'truth' of what's going on in the Liverpool squad after Man City win

Liverpool enjoyed one of their best weeks in recent memory after beating Real Madrid and Manchester City back-to-back.

The Reds extended their lead at the top of the UEFA Champions League standings with a 2-0 result against the reigning European champions, a result that was followed up by another 2-0 win at Anfield against Pep Guardiola’s City.

With Paul Merson predicting Liverpool to extend their winning run against Newcastle United tonight, the Reds could be about to enjoy another fantastic week if they can get results against the Toon and on Saturday against Merseyside rivals Everton.

Liverpool squad ‘in a great moment’ after beating Real Madrid and Man City

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the Argentina international revealed that the Reds’ squad are in fine spirits having beaten Madrid and City, with Mac Allister sharing how happy everyone in the team is with recent results.

With Liverpool nine points clear at the top of the Premier League, all signs seem to point towards the Anfield side going all the way and bringing the English championship back to Merseyside for only the second time in the 21st century.

And if spirits remain this high, Liverpool could become unstoppable in the Premier League, with Mac Allister saying on the squad’s mood: “The truth is that we are in a great moment. We have been feeling great.

“We have played against two of the best teams in the world in the last week and we have done a great job. We have achieved very important results, so we are happy. But we are already focusing on Wednesday’s game because as we always say, there is no rest, we just have to win and think about the next game.”

Liverpool need to maintain winning run throughout December

Liverpool got off to the perfect start for their December run against City, with the Reds picking up a huge win in the first of nine fixtures this month in all competitions.

With Newcastle coming up next for Arne Slot’s side, the Reds will need to be at their best again if they’re to keep hold of their strong lead at the top of the Premier League standings, which could take some damage in the coming weeks.

Yet Liverpool have overcome every obstacle so far this season whenever critics have reared their head, and there is every expectation that the Anfield side could go this entire month without missing a beat on their way to winning the Premier League.
