Chelsea player remains highly valued at club despite falling below others in pecking order

One Chelsea player still remains highly valued at Chelsea apparently, even despite falling below others in the squad pecking order of selection.

That is according to an article that has come out today from The Athletic, who go in detail on some of the current Chelsea defenders on the books.

We have heard about Axel Disasi not being deemed technical enough to play Enzo Maresca’s system, and now we are hearing about another centre back who has mainly had to make do playing in the second string B-Team in cup matches only, Benoit Badiashile.

Badiashile has been forced to be more of a bit part player this season under Maresca, but he is slowly starting to break more into his thoughts in the first team in recent matches and will probably get more chances soon as well now Wesley Fofana is injured again.

Badiashile highly valued

Badiashile has improved in recent games

According to the report mentioned above, Badiashile remains highly valued at Chelsea despite falling below Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana in Maresca’s pecking order. The internal consensus is that he continues to make positive developmental strides and, at 23, has his best years ahead of him.

I think Badiashile has been rather up and down at Chelsea. He came here and looked quality, but then he seemed to lose his confidence and his form dropped vastly. In his last few games though, he has looked a lot more like the old Badiashile that we were all very impressed with. Whether he can sustain that form going forward or not remains to be seen, because he does still often look to me like he has a mistake in him or just one too many bad passes that lead to a goal.
