'Look': Sam Allardyce gives honest response on why Everton are struggling so much right now

Sam Allardyce has always been open and honest as a manager, and now he’s given his opinion on why Everton are experiencing issues at this moment in time.

Everton are currently experiencing a lot of issues when it comes to scoring goals, having failed to do so in their last four games in the Premier League.

It’s getting to the point now where Sean Dyche is running out of options, as he’s already chopped and changed Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin with no great success.

One potential solution could be Armando Broja, but even he’s unreliable given his injury issues in the past and since joining Everton.

He’s set to join up with the Everton squad for the clash with Wolves, but it remains to be seen as to whether he will be able to play a part.

Interestingly, former Everton boss Sam Allardyce believes he knows why the Toffees are experiencing so many issues up to, as he puts it down to not replacing one player in 2017.

Sam Allardyce says Everton have never replaced Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku joined Everton on loan in 2013 and impressed massively, scoring 16 goals and assisted seven in 33 appearances.

The Toffees then decided to make his deal permanent in the summer of 2014 for £28 million.

From there, Lukaku went from strength to strength, taking his tally to 87 goals and 27 assists in 166 appearances during his time at the club.

However, all good things must come to an end, as he joined Manchester United for a fee of £75m plus £15m in add-ons in 2017.

This is the exact moment Sam Allardyce believes things went downhill at Everton.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, the former Everton boss claims that the Toffees’ current issues are down to not replacing Romelu Lukaku.

“Look, Everton have had a lack of goals since I went, even before I went. So they lost Lukaku and the goals have gone, and they never replaced him.

“They’ve tried, and tried, and tried, but they’ve never replaced him. It looked like Calvert-Lewin was going to be the answer for a while, until all the injuries happened.”

What Dominic Calvert-Lewin has said about Romelu Lukaku’s record

Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks set to leave in the summer transfer window, with his contract set to expire.

However, he gave Everton fans a bit of a mixed message in October, as Calvert-Lewin stated he has his sights set on beating Romelu Lukaku’s goalscoring record in the Premier League.

“For me, I’m joint-third top scorer in the Premier League for Everton so I need 13 more goals at this moment in time to surpass Romelu.

“As you can see, I know a lot about that. That’s been something on my agenda from the start of the season – being Everton’s all-time highest scorer in the Premier League. For me, that would be a very, very proud achievement.”

It hasn’t exactly gone well for him since, as he’s yet to add to his tally.
