Emmanuel Petit tells Chelsea flop to stop‘wasting time’and sign for Manchester United

Emmanuel Petit believes Mykhailo Mudryk can still be a hit in the Premier League

Emmanuel Petit has urged Mykhailo Mudryk to stop ‘wasting time’ and leave Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The Ukraine international is approaching the second anniversary of his decision to join the Blues and snub a potential move to Arsenal.

Mudryk has underwhelmed under a succession of managers with Enzo Maresca the latest incumbent of the Stamford Bridge hot seat to struggle to find room for the erratic winger in his starting XI.

The 23-year-old has been handed the majority of his opportunities this season in the cup competitions and looks unlikely to oust the likes of Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke as Maresca’s first choice wide men.

Petit, however, still believes Mudryk can prosper in the Premier League and is confident he would thrive at Old Trafford in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

Petit told GamblingZone: ‘Sooner or later, Mudryk needs to make a decision. He arrived at the club two years ago and what has he done? He has not improved and he’s missing a valuable period of his career and his confidence is down.

‘He’s 23 and he’s wasting too much time already and with the new sports direction at Chelsea, I don’t think he has a future there.

‘However, I think Man United could be an excellent opportunity for him as he suits in Ruben Amorim’s formation. His 3-4-3 could see him play him inside right behind the striker at Old Trafford.’

Petit, meanwhile, has backed Amorim to get the best out former Chelsea star Mason Mount, whose move to the Theatre of Dreams has been undermined by a series of injury setbacks.

‘I hope Mason Mount can get back on track under Amorim and I look at Hoijlund and Zirkzee, who both scored two goals in recent games, and it makes me hope the same can happen for Mount,’ Petit added.

‘Zirkzee was receiving so much criticism and now he’s scored two goals and it shows that Amorim can work his magic, why can’t the same happen to Mount?

‘I know that Amorim really likes Mount, saying he’s so professional and has great qualities, so it’s an important time for Mount.’
