Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has praised Liverpool for their outstanding start to the season.
The Gunners are nine points adrift of Arne Slot’s side heading into Wednesday night’s fixtures, and Havertz said that, even though it is still early in the campaign, he has been impressed by the performances that the Reds have produced:
“We’ve been in this race already now, last year as well, the year before the team was in there as well, so we know how tough it is. We are still in the first part of the season, so a lot of things can happen.”

“You see now Liverpool, all of a sudden performing on the highest level week in, week out. You have to give credit to them but there are still lots of games to play, lots of points to give, so we’re going to be ready for the fight for sure.”
Liverpool are strong favourites to win the title
The fact that Slot’s team are so far ahead of their rivals at this stage of the season means Opta have given them an 86.25% chance of finishing top of the table in May.
Havertz’s Arsenal are now deemed second favourites but they are only given an 8.48% chance by the statisticians.
Reigning champions Manchester City are down to 4.43% after the defeat at Anfield, while Havertz’s former club Chelsea are regarded as rank outsiders at 0.79% despite having the same points as Arsenal.
Things can change quickly in football
It should be noted that Arsenal lost the title to City two years ago when they had an 8-point lead so there will likely be plenty more twists and turns before the final game of the season.
Liverpool also have tough away fixtures coming up versus Newcastle and Everton so things could look a lot different if they can’t secure wins in those two matches.
