Ian Kennedy believes Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen are a “threat” to Everton ahead of their Premier League clash on Wednesday evening.

The two sides are fighting to make their way out of the relegation zone with just two points separating Gary O’Neil and Sean Dyche’s men.

Writing for the BBC Sport website (4 December), BBC Merseyside reporter Kennedy shared his thoughts on the clash and pondered whether Beto will once again be given the starting berth up front, like he was in the 4-0 rout at the hands of Manchester United.

“In Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen they have a big goalscoring threat,” Kennedy wrote.

“So Everton need to find a threat of their own. They need to create more chances but then need to convert them too.

“Beto got a start against Manchester United – but will he get the nod again? Armando Broja seems to be closer now to being involved and the sooner the forward options are widened the better.”

Why the Everton game against Wolves could be the most important of Sean Dyche’s season

Since the start of the season, Dyche’s position as manager has been under scrutiny due to their massive underperformance across all competitions.

Last season was arguably the toughest in the Merseyside outfit’s history as they were handed two point deductions for two separate breaches of the Premier League’s PSR rules.

While the former Burnley boss managed to guide them through, this season things have felt far different and at times, his team have let him down.

Of course, the 53-year-old is also to blame for Everton’s poor form as he’s the one who chooses the way that the team plays and lines up.

If the Toffees don’t come away from Goodison Park with all three points to their name on 4 December, it could end up being the point of no return in their season.

However, if they win and, in turn, create a larger cushion between themselves and the drop zone, the Merseyside outfit could find themselves in a run of form and perform yet another great escape.
