Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has tipped Ruben Amorim to take inspiration from Mikel Arteta’s transfer dealings.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been told to take inspiration from the way in which Mikel Arteta has managed his transfer activity at the Emirates Stadium as the two sides meet in North London on Wednesday night.
Amorim will take charge of his third Premier League match since arriving at the Red Devils to replace Erik ten Hag. The former Sporting CP boss is unbeaten so far with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town before a 4-0 win over Everton last weekend.
Now five years into his time at Arsenal, Arteta has emerged as one of the top flight's most respected managers and is no doubt a figure who Amorim will look to learn from as he finds his footing in the league. Gunners legend Ray Parlour explained that there was one particular aspect of Arteta's tenure to date that could serve as a model to follow for Amorim.

Parlour told NetBet Sports Betting: "Amorim has to work out the players he wants to keep and those he wants to move on. Then slowly get it right in the transfer window to develop a team which matches his style of play.
"Mikel took a while to move on the players who weren’t part of his plans and then did really well in the transfer market as well as bringing through William Saliba who was on loan. David Raya, Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus have all improved Arsenal over the past few years and not forgetting Martin Odegaard as well.
"It takes time, there is no overnight fix and I am sure Amorim knows this, but if he can slowly get his ideas across, then Man Utd can look to progress."

Mikel Arteta - ‘Sporting was remarkable’
The Arsenal manager himself was full of praise for Amorim ahead of the clash on Wednesday evening. The two managers have faced off twice in the past, with Sporting CP managing a win and a draw against Arsenal in the Europa League round of 16 in March 2023.
Arteta said: "You can see his fingerprints in what he wants to do straight away. He has been very clear, he has been very successful. What he did with Sporting was remarkable, what he achieved there after so many years, especially the way he did it and the way his teams have been playing.
"He brings energy to a new club, new ideas, something positive but we have to focus on what we need to do."
