The best players are always wanted at FC Barcelona, whether they come from outside or are developed from within. La Masia has always been responsible for such making such players come through, but certain exceptions can even be extraordinary. One such player at Barcelona this season is none other than Lamine Yamal.
Aged just 17, but he has already established himself as one of the finest football players on the planet. Possessing a type of confidence that most players do not find in their entire careers, Lamine Yamal has rightfully taken his position as a cemented starter for Barcelona and no player can seem to knock him off his perch.
However, as if his dribbling prowess and his keen eye and creativity were not lethal enough assets by themselves, he has now added a new ‘signature’ move to his arsenal. The trivela pass, a technique that involves the player using the outside of their foot to curl the ball, is now a tool that the Barcelona gem uses quite often.
In fact, he has already provided three assists this season using that specific technique against the likes of Villarreal, Espanyol, and most recently against RCD Mallorca. Labelled a trademark ability of his by many at this point, he was recently asked to speak about this technique which he already seems to have mastered at such a young age in an interview following the game against RCD Mallorca.
As highlighted by SPORT, the youngster was spoken to by a journalist who was mentioning not being able to do that technique even in video games such as FIFA, to which Yamal jokingly replied:
“I think it’s L2 in FIFA.”
However, this is not the only time that Yamal would go on to talk about his brilliant passing ability. Going further, he also stated that he understands that it is a technique which he can execute well and that he has no intention of not using it moving forward:
“My outside passes? It’s something I’m good at and will keep doing—100%.”
