Chelsea have made a decision over Reece James’ future amid transfer interest from Barcelona and Benfica, according to reports.

Some outlets claimed that James’ agent recently approached the Catalan club and the Portuguese side over a possible switch from Stamford Bridge.

It is thought that moving to a warmer climate is being considered as a potential solution to the England international’s recurring muscle injuries.

But according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are not considering any offers for James and they have ruled out a possible sale.

Chelsea captain James is currently out of action after suffering yet anotherinjury setback and won’t make his return until the New Year.

The right-back has endured torrid luck with injuries in recent seasons, managing just 654 minutes of football since being named Blues skipper.

James has barely featured under Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, making just four appearances this term, with Malo Gusto shining in his absence.

Chelsea fans expressed frustration over James’ recurring injury problems last month, with one supporter asking the club to consider selling him.

The 24-year-old has been at Chelsea since 2008 having progressed though the club’s academy.

James has played a total of 162 games for Chelsea to date while he has been capped 16 times by England.

He helped Chelsea clinch the Champions League trophy under Thomas Tuchel in 2021.

James was also named in the FA Cup Team of the Year for the 2020-21 season as Chelsea finished as runners-up to Leicester City.

Football pundit and Manchester United legend Paul Scholes aimed a dig at James earlier this season, stating that the Chelsea defender ‘doesn’t look like a captain’.
