Manchester United Duo Dubbed "Absolutely Outstanding" By Alan Shearer After 4-0 Everton Win

Manchester United earnt their first Premier League win under Ruben Amorim on Sunday afternoon against Everton.

The Red Devils won 4-0 at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee who signed for United in the summer from Bologna.

Ruben Amorim will be delighted as his side sit just four points off the Champions League places despite the poor start to the season under Erik Ten Hag.

United put in what was arguably their best performance of the season so far against Everton and former Premier League striker Alan Shearer was quick to praise two names in the United XI.

He said on The Rest Is Football podcast: “It was a much improved performance today, they were very good. Once Manchester United got the first one, they [Everton] sort of caved in, it was a good performance in the end from United.”

Shearer credited much of the United performance to winger Amad Diallo who played as a right-wing back in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

He said: “Amad Diallo was absolutely outstanding on the right hand side, he was fantastic, player of the match. He was a constant threat, his work rate, his attitude and his understanding of what his manager wants from him in that position was brilliant.”

Diallo contributed two assists for the Red Devils and was given a 10/10 player rating after the game in our ratings for United.

However, the other 10/10 came for striker Joshua Zirkzee who has had a slow start to life at Old Trafford. Shearer praised the Dutchman for his complete performance against Everton, he said: “He did well Zirkzee, his link up play brought people into the game and he got his rewards with his goals.”

Manchester United face a quick turnaround to play Arsenal

Despite the excellent performance against Everton, Ruben Amorim’s side have no time to celebrate as they look ahead to a Wednesday night match against Arsenal.

The Gunners come off a 5-2 win against West Ham and are trying to catch up to Liverpool in the title race as the gap in points is currently nine.

Manchester United will hope that they can put a dent in Arsenal’s title hopes and make up some ground on their longstanding rivals.
