Cole Palmer scored one and set up another in a strong 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa. With the title race between Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal heating up, Chelsea are just happy to be there. After a few forgettable seasons in the past two years, The Blues are back to being one of the best in the league under new manager Enzo Maresca.
The Londoners find themselves in a very comfortable spot after a third of the season is over. Enzo Maresca’s team has a brilliant run of fixtures between game week 14 and 22. They play five of the bottom six teams and I don’t see them losing many points during this period. Chelsea is tied with Arsenal for points, and goal difference but is ranked third because of the alphabetical order.
Going into December, Chelsea will look to continue their strong start to the season. The Blues, however, cannot afford to get complacent. Brighton and Forest are having a great season of their own meanwhile, teams like Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester United are looking to climb up the table.
This weekend, after the latest win against Aston Villa, Cole Palmer talked about his connection with teammate Nicholas Jackson and Chelsea’s position in the league.
Chelsea are back
Cole Palmer was Chelsea’s best player last season by some distance. The lone warrior in an underperforming squad. This season, however, the English midfielder’s teammates have elevated their level of play.
Some credit behind Chelsea’s success this season has to be given to the board. They have put together a great team of staff, Enzo Maresca being one of them. The board should also be credited for allowing the new manager liberty over which players to keep or sell.
After the last two seasons, the only way for Chelsea was up but nobody would’ve expected them to be so good, so soon. The higher-ups in the club have pulled off a great rebuild. Last season, it was all about Cole Palmer, he carried them to sixth place with thirty-three goals and assists in just twenty-nine starts. This year, his teammates have also joined the party, Nicholas Jackson, Levi Colwill, and Moises Caicedo are showing how good they can be.
Never doubt Cole Palmer! 😅
He told Morgan Rogers he'd be Player of the Match when Chelsea faced Aston Villa, and he was right!

In the recent 3-0 win against Aston Villa at the Bridge, Cole Palmer and Nicholas Jackson got on the scoring sheet for the eighth time this season. Palmer has eight goals and six assists in thirteen games this season and is Chelsea’s main man. But unlike last season, his teammates have stepped up. Jackson’s tally of twelve goals and assists shows how prolific he has been.
Cole Palmer on his connection with Nicholas Jackson
After the match ended, Cole Palmer spoke about his chemistry with Jackson and how it has helped the team on the pitch. He also talked about Chelsea’s current position in the Premier League and the difference between them and the real title contenders.
Palmer said that the duo works well together and that their off-court friendship is helping them produce results on the field. Jackson and Palmer have scored eight goals apiece and are one of the highest-scoring duos in the league this season.
Cole also said they can finish in the top four if they keep winning games. But also pointed out that Maresca talked about the difference between them and teams like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. He said they have been together for more than five years whereas this is Chelsea’s first year.
A squad of young players needs time to transform into a winner. You play great, you lose, learn from your mistakes, address your weaknesses as a team, and come back stronger, that is how you win. That is the road that every great team has traveled through. The Blues are moving in the right direction, but expecting a title challenge from them at this stage is slightly greedy.
