Alexis Mac Allister has reinforced his commitment to Liverpool, expressing joy at the club and a desire to enhance his scoring record. The Argentina international netted his second goal of the season in Liverpool's 2-0 win against Real Madrid last week.
Acquired from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2023, the 25-year-old produced an impressive debut season on Merseyside. Initially played as a number six, Mac Allister ended his first year at Anfield playing further forward.
Mac Allister's performances, yielding seven goals and seven assists across 46 games, had previously sparked speculation about a switch to Real Madrid. However, following his goal against the Spanish champions, he's confirmed he's relishing his time at Liverpool.
"Dreams are there to be fulfilled," he commented, echoing sentiments shared by the club. “I have been achieving things that even in my best dreams I could not have imagined and I am very happy for my present," reports the Liverpool Echo.
With Arne Slot at the helm, Mac Allister has seen a more attacking role emerge for himself in midfield, often pairing up with Ryan Gravenberch in a double-pivot system. Despite this strategic shift, his tally stands at two goals and zero assists from 20 outings this term. Yet the ambitious midfielder is set on elevating these figures.
"It's up to me to continue. I like to score goals, I like to assist," he expressed. "I also want to put some emphasis on that, on improving my numbers. I think I can do that. So, I'm happy for what I'm achieving, but at the same time I always want a little bit more."
Mac Allister has also shared his thoughts on the future of Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts are set to expire next summer, sparking rumors about their next moves.

Both Salah and Van Dijk have publicly stated their desire to stay at Anfield, although Salah has revealed that he hasn't yet received a formal contract offer from the club. Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold is rumored to be considering a move to Real Madrid, but has indicated his intention to finish the season with Liverpool.
Mac Allister admitted that while the dressing room can't interfere, he hopes all three players will renew their contracts with the club. "Obviously we want to share a lot of years with him (Salah), but that's a personal decision," he told ESPN Argentina.
"The club has to make a decision and we can't get involved. Hopefully they can come to an agreement because we want him and Virgil and Trent to continue with us. Hopefully that will be the case."
He also commended Salah's mentality, as the Egyptian forward has had an outstanding season so far, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists in just 20 appearances.
"I think that shows a little bit of who Mo is, his mentality," he said. "When you see him every day, he's a person who works very hard, who is tireless. He's the first to arrive and the last to leave. Always prepared for whatever may come. He carries that to the pitch and he always helps us in decisive moments when big players get tougher, he's there. That makes us all glad."
