There has not been much to smile about when it comes to West Ham this season but there is now.
West Ham are woeful under Julen Lopetegui and it’s no laughing matter.
The Hammers spent £155m in the summer as nine new signings arrived.
Twelves players were also shipped out as Tim Steidten took full control of the football operation to rebuild the West Ham squad along with Lopetegui.
Hopes were high around the club.
Cast your minds back to the end of August and Hammers fans were giddy with excitement.
It was declared that Steidten and West Ham had ‘won the transfer window’.
Pundits were queueing up to tip the Hammers for Europe.
Is it any wonder why given some of the signings the club made.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
There was mystery, intrigue and excitement around the capture of Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme.
The fact West Ham shelled out £20m on an 18-year-old who had only made 19 appearances for Palmeiras seemed like a risk. But it suggested Steidten was on to something special.
Max Kilman arrived for £40m from Wolves, Jean-Clair Todibo joined on loan which have been turned into a permanent £32m move and Aaron Wan-Bissaka signed for £15m to complete a much-needed defensive overhaul.

Comedian posts brilliant sketch about West Ham situation
Argentine World Cup winning midfielder Guido Rodriguez was snapped up on a free by West Ham after a move to Barcelona collapsed.
Germany starting striker Niclas Fullkrug arrived for £23.5m and the Championship player of the year Crysencio Summerville joined him for just £26m.
Carlos Soler was the ninth and final Hammers arrival on deadline day, on loan from PSG.
West Ham even brought in another experienced ‘keeper in Wes Foderingham on a free to play back-up to Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski.
Expectations vs reality have been shocking, though.
The latest shambolic defeats to Leicester and Arsenal saw West Ham ship eight goals.
The club languish down in 14th place in the Premier League table and have conceded the third most goals in the top flight.
It’s been a disastrous campaign so far and Lopetegui is under intense pressure to keep his job.
Fans turned on the manager at the King Power, chanting ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’.

Gallows humour at its best – it’s the most I’ve laughed all season
It’s not been fun supporting West Ham this year.
But one West Ham fan and funny man is determined to put a smile on the faces of his fellow supporters.
I watched a comedian’s brilliant sketch about the West Ham situation and it’s the most I’ve laughed all season.
Rob Morgan is a social media comedian and massive West Ham fan.
He puts out hilarious comedy sketches on his social feeds.
And he’ll often put out Hammers related sketches, so he’s well worth a follow if you fancy a laugh.
In his new West Ham themed sketch, Morgan brilliantly highlights how we all got carried away over the summer transfer business.
In a series of phone calls to a friend of a rival club, Morgan celebrates several of the big summer captures, getting more carried away with each one.
He ends the sketch in tears. Enough said.
It may be miserable at the moment but this gallows humour is just what West Ham fans need right now.
Morgan’s sketch is titled ‘West Ham fans in August v now’.
It comes as speculation is rife Lopetegui could be sacked.
And reports abound that Steidten, who swept us all up in the clouds with him on his transfer jet plane, may not be far behind.
You can check out Morgan’s hilarious sketch in the post above.
