Liverpool travelled away to Newcastle United in a must-win Premier League game having beaten Manchester City on Sunday.
The Reds head into their second of ten games this December with an excellent chance to build even more space between themselves and the rest of those challenging for the Premier League, with Liverpool going into St. James’ Park nine points clear of second-place Arsenal.
With Mohamed Salah a goal away from history should he score against Newcastle, a win today for Liverpool could be as big as last weekend’s 2-0 result against City, with the Reds’ title credentials expected to be tested to the maximum this month.
Yet Jamie Carragher has said one Liverpool player could be off next year after watching what he saw against Newcastle.

Darwin Nunez tipped to leave Liverpool next year despite ‘cult hero’ status
Speaking on the Overlap, the former Liverpool defender gave his opinion on Darwin Nunez’s future, with Carragher predicting the Uruguay international to leave Anfield next year having failed to live up to his price tag.
Paul Merson was critical of Nunez’s performance against Real Madrid with the former Benfica striker once again failing to hit the numbers many expected from the energetic forward after he joined Liverpool for a high price in 2022.

Carragher said when asked about Nunez’s future at Liverpool: “I’m not sure he’s here next year, I think he’ll probably move on. He’s more like a cult hero because he’s a bit mad and he likes to run around, but he’s better than [Divock] Origi.”

Nunez knows this season is a last-chance saloon at Liverpool
Nunez joined Liverpool two years ago to much excitement, with the Uruguay international showing signs of promise of becoming the second coming of Luis Suarez and the future striker for the Reds for many seasons to come.
But in his third campaign at Anfield, Nunez knows that this season is last-chance saloon for his Premier League career, with the forward yet to hit the heights many expected from the former Benfica superstar.
Indeed, Nunez’s record this season has been disappointing, to say the least, and Liverpool would be well within their right to sell the attacker if the Uruguayan doesn’t live up to standards come the end of this campaign.
