Here are our player ratings:

Caoimhin Kelleher: 7 -

----------------------

Made some crucial saves and was probably one of the best players for Liverpool in the first-half. Bailed out Gomez on the Gordon chance.

Jarell Quansah: 5 -

-------------------

It was always going to be a tough test for Quansah coming up against Anthony Gordon in an unfamiliar position. Booked.

Joe Gomez: 5 -

--------------

There were a few times Newcastle found their way in behind, including one awkward failed clearance from which Anthony Gordon should have scored. Struggled.

Virgil van Dijk: 6-

-------------------

He was twisted this way and that in the build-up to Alexander Isak's opening goal in uncharacteristic fashion. Up to then he had been solid as usual.

Andy Robertson: 5 -

-------------------

Made plenty of forward runs but there were times when he looked a little vulnerable in defensive situations.

Ryan Gravenberch: 6 -

---------------------

Probably not his best game so far. Looked a little bit jaded which is understandable considering the amount of minutes he has played. Booked.

Alexis Mac Allister: 6 -

------------------------

A solid performance that's only tainted by his yellow card which now rules him out of the Merseyside derby at the weekend. Had a couple of decent shots.

Curtis Jones: 6 -

-----------------

Couldn't get on the ball much nor influence the game with Newcastle very much controlling possession.

Cody Gakpo: 5 -

---------------

Probably the most active attacker for Liverpool but couldn't get the ball in too many dangerous territories.

Mohamed Salah: 5 -

------------------

Very isolated and frustrated in the first-half. Tried to create for Liverpool but just ran into traffic. Dispossessed in the build-up to a good Jacob Murphy chance.

Darwin Nunez: 5 -

-----------------

He's not been able to create chaos as much as Slot will have hoped. Liverpool need to get him on the ball more.
