Tottenham considering shock move for England striker

Tottenham Hotspur will hope to return to winning ways when they travel to face Bournemouth on Thursday night.

Spurs have been held to draws by Roma and Fulham since defeating Premier League champions Manchester City 4-0, and manager Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that his side can pick up three important points against the Cherries.

In the meantime, it appears that the Lilywhites could offer an England international a route back to the Premier League in what would be a shock move.

As per Todo Fichajes via CaughtOffside, the North London club are considering a surprise move for Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney on January.

The report claims that both Tottenham and London rivals Chelsea are monitoring the England international’s situation, with a view to potentially moving for him when the window reopens next month.

Toney, 28, was part of the England squad that reached the final of Euro 2024 in Germany over the summer but ha since moved to Saudi Arabia.

He was linked with a number of Premier League clubs – including Chelsea and Spurs – over the summer before eventually finalising a deadline day move from Brentford to Pro League side Al-Ahli.

Toney has been linked with a shock return to England just months after joining Al-Ahli

Spurs have signed striker Dominic Solanke since initially showing interest in Toney, but the report suggests that they remain interested in the player.

Since his move, Toney has netted eight times in 16 games across all competitions, as well as registering three assists.

During his time with the Bees, Toney scored 72 times in 141 games, including 36 times in the Premier League.

The report claims that the Englishman could be available for a fee of around £35 million, just months after departing the Premier League.

Toney’s contract with Al-Ahli is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season, but it appears increasingly likely that he could return to England prior to that date.
