Ian Wright unleashed an angry rant at ‘sloppy’ Arsenal star Kai Havertz during Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United.
The Gunners should have taken a 1-0 lead after just four minutes at the Emirates when Gabriel Martinelli stuck the ball in the back of the net.
But the goal was rightly ruled out as the flag went up against Havertz, who had strayed into an offside position before knocked the ball into Martinelli’s path.
Arsenal legend Wright, watching the match on The Overlap’s YouTube watchalong, was left furious at the German forward.
‘Why was he so sloppy there?’ Wright said. ‘He’s just like… look at him! You know what, just there, he’s just got to run half a yard quicker and then he is onside, Havertz.
‘I hate it when forwards don’t get onside. Why don’t they just get back onside?
‘We should be 1-0 up, I can’t believe it. I’m so tired of seeing strikers do that.’

A number of pundits have criticised Havertz’s output this season and have suggested Arsenal need to sign a new striker if they want to win major trophies.
Mikel Arteta was recently urged to replace Havertz by former Arsenal star William Gallas, while legendary manager Arsene Wenger fears the 25-year-old will never develop into a prolific goalscorer.
Ahead of the clash against United, though, Arsenal midfielder Jorginho issued a passionate defence of his teammate.
‘It’s crazy because he’s just an unbelievable player,’ Jorginho said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast. ‘At the beginning when people [were] hammering him, I was like, these people, what are they talking about?
‘I was like, is this really happening? I can’t believe it. I was like, oh my days. And then actually I went to Kai a few times and I was like, Kai, don’t listen, forget about it.
‘You know what you can do it. This is crazy. And how much he helps the team, the way he plays. And for me, the big improvement he had since he came to Premier League is how tougher he’s getting every day. He’s getting tougher and tougher.’
