Nottingham Forest slipped to a defeat against Manchester City as the champions ended their run of losses in the Premier League.
Forest did compete in the contest but goals from Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku ensured a pretty routine win for the Citizens.
Stuart Pearce raved about Chris Wood before the game but he won’t want to see his miss in the first half back after this one.
Following the game, we looked at some player ratings and scored the Forest performance out of 10.

Matz Sels – 7
He might have shipped three goals but without his saves, this would have been nothing short of a cricket score in the favour of City.
Ola Aina – 5
Was given a tough test up against Jeremy Doku and the Nigerian player will be keen to park this performance and quickly move onto the next one.
Nikola Milenkovic – 6
Largely kept Erling Haaland quiet but ultimately it wasn’t a good night for the Serbian defender who was cautioned with 15 minutes remaining.
Murillo – 6
Had a lovely effort from a distance that just fizzled over the bar and his passing was largely decent all night, minus one really poor pass that almost led to a goal in the 67th minute.
MORE FOREST STORIES
Alex Moreno – 7
Probably one of Forest’s better players on the night and tried his best to get Forest forward, often cutting inside to progress through the middle of the pitch.
Ryan Yates – 3
Inexplicable attempt to stop Jeremy Doku for City’s second goal and was rightfully hooked at the half-time interval. Looked absolutely miles off it.
Nicolas Dominguez – 5
Another night that wasn’t really right for Dominguez. Lots of tenacity but things didn’t really work out for him against a rampant City midfield. Did get better as the second half wore on.
Anthony Elanga – 6
Started poorly but did recover and was part of the few good things that Forest did manage to get going when attacking the City goal. Missed a good chance late in the piece.
Morgan Gibbs-White – 5
Some good moments and some bad. Didn’t cover himself in glory for the first goal that was scored by Bernardo Silva. Had a glorious chance to equalise in the first half and produced a good save from the goalkeeper.
Jota Silva – 4
It just didn’t work for him. Showed lots of energy but was often erratic and gave away a number of silly free kicks including one in a dangerous area on Jack Grealish.
Chris Wood – 4
He has credit in the bank but it’s hard to go any higher than a four when he fluffed a golden chance to draw Forest level just moments before Kevin De Bruyne made it 2-0.
Substitutes
Morato (Yates, HT) – 6
His record of not being on the pitch when a goal was conceded is over after Doku’s piece of brilliance in the second half. Did okay but will want more game time to get fully up to speed at this level.
Taiwo Awoniyi (Wood, 61) – 5
Barely touched the ball to be honest and fed on scraps again as City saw the game out.
Elliot Anderson (Aina, 61) – 6
Largely quiet but did put himself about as the game slipped away from Forest.
Eric da Silva Moreira (Gibbs-White, 61) – 6
More minutes for the young German and he will welcome the chance to get on the pitch again for the Reds.
Ramon Sosa (Silva, 71) – 6
Much like Awoniyi, he barely touched the ball as Forest tried to shut up shop and see out the game.
Unused
