Stefan Ortega- 6/10

Stefan Ortega kept his place in Manchester City’s starting line-up and made two crucial saves, especially when Morgan Gibbs-White tested him from outside the box.

The German made himself big and kept Anthony Elanga’s free-kick out as well. Solid once again.

Manuel Akanji- 5/10

Manuel Akanji suffered a few awkward moments when going toe-to-toe with Elanga before being taken off at half-time.

Ruben Dias- 6.5/10

Ruben Dias was ever-reliable in the centre of defence and often, his passing was superb. The Portuguese defender even made two runs further up the pitch and put in a dangerous delivery.

Nathan Ake- 7/10

Before being substituted in the dying embers of the contest with a potential injury, Ake was dependable at the back when called upon. In possession, the Dutchman’s passing was excellent, playing a lovely through ball to Josko Gvardiol that eventually led to Bernardo’s opener.

Josko Gvardiol- 5.5/10

While Gvardiol provided a key pass in the build-up to Bernardo’s strike, he missed two gilt-edged chances in the first half.

Defensively, the Croatian was largely reliable.

Ilkay Gundogan- 8/10

Ilkay Gundogan put in his finest performance since his return to Manchester City, running the show at the base of midfield.

Gundogan’s passing, control of proceedings and defensive work was brilliant for the most part. Aside from when Elliott Anderson dispossessed the German to set up Elanga’s missed chance, he was a class act.

Jack Grealish- 8/10

Starting in the middle of the park, Jack Grealish brought a sense of calmness in midfield, retaining the ball excellently and often breaking the lines for fun.

The synergy between himself, De Bruyne and Bernardo was a joy to watch.

Kevin De Bruyne- 9/10

De Bruyne was simply the best player on the pitch, assisting Bernardo’s opening goal before getting his name on the scoresheet with an emphatic strike.

The Belgian was world-class in every possible regard: creating chances for fun, combining impeccably with his players and getting out of tight situations with ease.

Bernardo Silva- 7.5/10

Bernardo’s close-ranger header was a huge sigh of relief for Manchester City and the goal perhaps boosted his confidence as he shone against Forest.

The Portuguese attacker’s combination play with De Bruyne in the first half stood out. Gave Alex Moreno a tough time and defended valiantly.

Jeremy Doku- 8/10

Doku assisted De Bruyne with a brilliant shimmy and pass before finishing with aplomb to take his goal.

The 22-year-old’s dribbling, directness and defensive work was a joy to watch as he put in one of his most-accomplished performances in a Manchester City shirt.

Erling Haaland- 7/10

Assisted Doku’s goal with a brilliant pass and all-round, Erling Haaland’s game with the ball at his feet when holding up the ball was sublime.

The only thing missing from Haaland’s showing was a goal.
