Chelsea kept up their recent run of form with an away victory at Southampton in midweek.
Chelsea have now won four consecutive games across all competitions since returning from the November international break, which has included three straight wins in the Premier League.
The Blues picked up three points at St Mary’s on Wednesday evening with a 5-1 success on the road.
Axel Disasi opened the scoring with a header inside seven minutes before the Saints quickly equalised through Joe Aribo. The visitors were 3-1 in front by half time because of further first-half goals from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke.
Southampton played the entire second half with 10 men after Jack Stephens was sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair. Chelsea wasted several goalscoring chances during the second period, but still found two more goals through Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink hails Noni Madueke
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who was a pundit on Amazon Prime Video for Southampton versus Chelsea, highlighted Blues attacker Noni Madueke for some special praise.
The 22-year-old winger assisted Nkunku’s goal, plus netted his sixth goal of the season in some style with a precise left-footed finish.
Hasselbaink analysed Madueke’s goal by saying (8:26pm, 4 December): “This is pure class. This is what you can’t do anything about as a defender. You can maybe go closer, but sometimes you have to say well done. This is well done from Madueke, brilliant class. He comes inside and puts it in the side net in the far corner.”

Madueke was recalled to Chelsea’s starting line-up against Southampton, which was one of seven changes for the midweek game. He certainly took his chance on the right wing, too.
Madueke admits his Chelsea form has been up and down, but he’s definitely had more good games than bad this season.
